RECASE visits "Windenergietage" in Potsdam

The RECASE exhibiting team of five employees visited the Windenergietage in Potsdam from the 7th to the 10th of November.
Both positive conversations at the RECASE booth and the many interesting speeches and discussions contributed to a great exchange of experience. Moreover, the little booth parties at the 2nd evening intensified already existing contacts as well as establishing new contacts.

RECASE also will be in the upcoming Windenergietage 2017 in Warnemünde.

Fair New Energy 2016: RECASE participates at the industry get-together by watt_2.0

As a member of the industry association watt_2.0 RECASE presented itself at the New Energy 2016. The focus of this industry get-together organized by watt_2.0 was on issues like the use of renewable energies and storage technologies for energy-intensive companies, on e-mobility as well as on sector coupling of renewable energies.

On all days of the fair RECASE could appreciate a lively interest of visitors on its own fair stand. The RECASE team was busy throughout the entire fair and engrossed in many interesting and promising discussions with entrepreneurs, mayors, watt_2.0 partners and operators of renewable energy plants.

The lectures, which our expert in energy efficiency Jan N. Schmitz presented during the watt_2.0 forum and the FURGY Clean Innovation Congress (http://www.furgyclean.eu) on energy efficiency for small and medium-sized businesses, are available for download here.

RECASE accompanies smoke detection test within a wind turbine tower

On 21th January 2016 RECASE accompanied a smoke detection test within a wind turbine tower. The aim of this test was to proof whether or not the existing smoke detection system operates reliable on smoke emissions expectable for the existing fire loads. Hence between two floors of the wind turbine tower (approx. 22m) smoke detectors with and without baffle plates were placed in different heights in order to measure the smoke concentration over a certain height and period of time.
For the validation program different types and strengths of smoke emissions were generated:

  • Simulation of cable fire by a hot wire approach
  • Simulation of a burning cabinet by the use of smoke capsules
  • At the end of the test the tower was smoke filled by the use of a fog machine to examine the system behavior for cold smoke

This differentiating smoke test gave our client the opportunity to test their smoke detection system and to have the test results influence in the development of the smoke detection system within the development phase of a new tower.

The regulations on the system stability (SysStabV) for wind turbines with MD2000 converters for the German market

In cooperation with the wind turbine manufacturer Senvion and the manufacturer for frequency converters GE Power Conversions, the company RECASE Regenerative Energien GmbH has proven the compliance with the requirements according to the German Standard SysStabV for the GE Power Conversion converter MD2000 in a comprehensive validation program (formerly Alstom, Converteam or Cégélec converter).
These converters are used in hundreds of proven wind turbines of the manufacturer Senvion (formerly REpower), Nordex and GE Wind.

The validation program consisted of a preliminary test in Berlin at GE Power Conversion and of a test field run at full load with an original generator in an external test laboratory.
The following items were tested:

  • Different converter hardware configurations
  • Different converter software and parameter constellations
  • For the electrical overall system, extreme load conditions including the limit frequencies of 47.5 and 51.5 Hz, or even beyond

The overall system has always been reliable during the test run. Therefore, it would be possible to prove, in particular the operation of at least 10 minutes in the particularly critical frequency band between 48.0 and 47.5 Hz. It has also been confirmed that the previous hardware and software constellation does not fulfil the requirements of the regulations on the system stability.

In order to be able to confirm the validity of the results for the corresponding wind turbine configuration (software and hardware), it would be necessary to issue a specific manufacturer’s declaration for each wind turbine according to the validation results. We observe hereby the compliance with the requirements according to the regulations on SysStabV and also for other components of the wind turbine (pitch system, protection, etc.).
In cooperation with the customers and in different constellations, RECASE Regenerative Energien GmbH is currently involved in the roll-out of these and other retrofits of the ordinance on SysStabV.

Fair New Energy 2016: RECASE presents new services

In addition to its core business in wind energy RECASE expands the range of new services in the field of energy efficiency and the use of renewable energies in regional contexts continuously. For instance, RECASE offers expertise in issues of economic assessment and planning of own- consumption energy concepts, for the development of eCarsharing concepts for rural areas, as well as for biogas plant operators in issues of electricity and energy taxes and technical improvement of their plants. Within the consulting for own-consumption energy concepts the RECASE essential approach is to develop a solution tailored to the specific application case. Therefor an energy and load profile measurement is always taken as a basis by RECASE experts.

At the fair New Energy from the 17th to the 20th of March 2016 in Husum RECASE will inform about these new services and the increasing importance of energy efficiency in business and households. The RECASE team will be happy to welcome you for personal conservations at our booth (which is part of the watt_2.0 joint stand in Hall 1). Also you may join our fair presentation on these issues "The individual path to energy efficiency".

We look forward to your visit!
